Inspired // Camper Store by Nendo

July 31, 2013

I am in love with this Camper shoe store in New York! Designed by Japanese designer Nendo, the shoes on the walls are designed to look as if they are 'walking on air'. And the sure do! It is very difficult to think of innovative ways to use the dead space above the racks in shoe stores, and Nendo has achieved this magnificently!

Camper has got it so right, with using different designers to design each of their store. Creating destinations. I know that if I were to be in NYC, I would make a point of visiting this store. I can really appreciate the innovation here.

But my personal favourite has the be the Camper store in Lyon. Designed by Dutch designs 'Studio Makkink and Bey'. (They recently design per Hermés' store windows in Japan!).

In the Lyon store, the Studio created what they describe as a never ending staircase. It's pretty amazing! Another store that is definitely on my list of places to visit.

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling inspired to design a shoe store now!
